Articles published by Ed Mattson can be found on numerous websites which may be listed in the “LINKS” section. Most articles address military and veterans affairs, however, over the last two years, I have been asked to address other topics such as cancer issues, government malfeasance, current political subjects, along with special articles and short series on historic events. I will post my work here on my homepage and/or The Conservative Word website.

The Second Amendment is one of the most important rights we Americans have to protect our freedom, liberty, and insure the safety of our family and homes. It is not an issue of being part of a “well regulated militia” as some wish to use as a narrow definition. You have to read the Federalist Papers for the true intent.

I published Part 1 of this article just after I finished running off a copy on my printer. I don’t believe the ink was even dry on the copy when I receive a couple of replies posted on the Internet, lambasting me on what I had written and stating in no uncertain terms that websites should no longer publish my work. Isn’t it interesting that even with the First Amendment guaranteeing our right to free speech, backed-up by the Second Amendment giving we the people the ability to enforce the U.S. Constitution by force if necessary, that we have those who would deny a person to write about what’s on his mind. Now that’s priceless!

Only the ignorant among us would allow the government to usurp the U.S. Constitution, by altering the Second Amendment, which insures viability of the entire document.

In the first two parts of this essay on the Second Amendment, we covered a lot of ground, from the freedom to own guns as being one of the most important rights we Americans have to protect our freedom, liberty, and insure the safety of our family and homes, to understanding the threat our country faces today from aggression by Russia, China, North Korea, and of course, global terror.
